I have just finished my freshman year at Columbia University. I am in the engineering school, however, am undecided about whether or not I am actually interested in majoring in computer science. Therefore I thought this would be a great way to have some experience in the field, while helping me figure out if I am actually interested in the subject.
I am uncertain about working in computer science because despite the fact that I tend to be able to skillfully comprehend computer applications, I am not interested in sitting in a room at a computer all day, coding. Therefore I thought the computer graphics lab may interest me some. I am also into art and participate in a variety of extra curricular activities in more liberal art fields. Working with Maya and modeling is one way I hope to be able to add this passion in the computer field.
I decided on working at Carnegie Mellon University, because of it’s great computer graphics program there, as well as the fact that I am from Pittsburgh. This made travel and housing accommodations easier for me, and the available contact with high-school friends and family made adjusting simplistic.
